If its not up to par then return and go for a PC. What I would do in your case is get the Mac and try it out for 14 days, since Apple is happy to give you a full refund if you're not happy during the return window. So for that case I think you can happily go for the Mac. If you're only going to be modelling, viewport performance should be about equal on both types of machines, with the advantage for the Mac in terms of memory because your 36/48/64/96 or 128gb of RAM can be used by the GPU too. It's up to you to decide if you're willing to take some performance loss compared to the highest end PC laptops for a computer that is, in every other respect, much nicer. MacBook Pros perform the same both plugged and unplugged. That is, performance when unplugged drops significantly and the battery life is pretty poor. One other thing to note is that PC laptops are terrible when used as laptops. You do however get a lot of other qualities that PC laptops just generally can't match (thermals, noise, speakers, screen, design, weight, battery life). The M3 Max is GREAT and has been a big jump in performance for rendering and previewing, however its still at the level of an RTX 4060-4070 in most render engines and yet you're paying a lot over pretty much every other PC laptop. I'm a Mac laptop and PC desktop user but I'll be the first to admit Apple are still on their way to getting back in the game for 3D work. The MacBook Pro 16' is still using the intel. I do however struggle to understand the technical side, so Im looking for help to figure it out. I am looking for an affordable computer that can manage octane and cinema well. I do graphic design and 3D and am just graduating and entering the workforce. A bit of an involved question, so let’s dive in and answe. Cinema 4D and Octane on New MacBook Pro 16'. If you just care about performance and upgrade flexibility (RAM and SSD only) then go for any of the PC options. If you’re new to cinema4D, you’re probably wondering what kind of hardware you’ll need to learn it. Image Infoĭo you value screen quality, battery life, build quality, noise, thermals and speakers over overall rendering performance? Then get the Mac.
